Our Place GRANGE PARISH in South East County Limerick Ireland
Easter Sunday 2017 Grange Eevent
Almost a year following the opening on 24th April, 2016 of a marvellous Remembrance Garden at Grange to commemorate the 1916 Rising, a good number of people convened at the garden, adjacent to Grange Church, after Mass on Easter Sunday, 16th April 2017, to once again remember all of those who fought and died for Irish Independence. It was also an opportunity to admire the handsome garden after a year of maturity.
Martin O'Connor, Vice-Chairman of Grange Cross Residents Association was the master of ceremonies on the occasion, and Martin's address can be read on this page.
Deputy Niall Collins gave a most eloquent and touching keynote address - it was greatly appreciated by all in attendance.
After the formalities, many attendees retired to the old schoolhouse for refreshments and conversation. A very satisfactory event, indeed!
The Limerick Leader edition of 22nd April, 2017 carried a report (below) on the event including several photographs - scanned copies of the images are reproduced below.
